I hadn’t planned on writing or rewriting a fairy tale. I really hadn’t. When I started writing, I knew I’d work on paranormal stories. When I read the sub call to write a fairy tale, but a new take on said fairy tale…I had to do it. I mean, to get to add kink and sex to a story that’s not even a gay romance…it was a no-brainer. Strong Hans, the story Savage Protector is based on features a character who has to fight his way out of trouble, but to get his lady love. In the case of my Hans…well, he’s not into girls.
I had to listen to the characters and what they wanted. The bones of the story was there, but then I had to figure out where their version of the story was headed. But it was fun. I could write Hans in a new way. I could make him a little kinky and very handsome. Oh, and give him a wolf shifter. Who doesn’t want a wolf shifter?
So I wrote Hans’ story. I could explore the sexy and give these characters a happy ending in the way they wanted. It’s fun. Initially, I thought the story would go one way, but then it went another. When I sat down to write it, I basically scrawled the whole thing out in a notebook and sorted it out later. Good thing I did. Once I started, the story just flowed.
