Welcome back to Butte Plains, Texas!
Welcome back to Butte Plains, Texas! Our first glimpse of this little town was in The Backdoor Billionaire’s Bride when Ford Adams was struggling to keep his family business going until he could sell it and get back to New York. He hadn’t counted on two things — selling sex toys would make him billions — and Becky Jean Parker would steal his heart.
He also hadn’t expected his best friend and business partner, Scott Ramsey to show up. And the last thing in the world Ford expected was for Scott to put down roots in Butte Plains. But that’s what happens in The Yankee Billionaire’s Bride.
I don’t want to give too much away, but I’m safe in saying one of the reasons Scott wants to stay in Butte Plains is Roseanne Meadows. The owner of The Yellow Rose Bed-and-Breakfast is unlike any woman he’s ever met, and it’s safe to say Scott is as far from the cowboy boot wearing, Stetson crowned Texan Roseanne usually sees around town. As they say, opposites attract!
I’m often asked what inspired my characters, my story or the places in my books. In this case, The Yellow Rose Bed-and-Breakfast was inspired by a real-life bed-and-breakfast in Columbus, MS. The Painted Lady is a beautiful Victorian that sits on a corner lot, just like my fictional B&B. My husband and I stayed there for a few days when my son-in-law graduated from pilot training at nearby Columbus Air Force Base a few years back. I’m a sucker for an old house, and The Painted Lady grabbed me by the heartstrings. I took hundreds of photos of The Painted Lady, both inside and out, and often referred back to them while writing both books in this series.
In many ways, Columbus, MS resembles my fictional town of Butte Plains, Texas. Both towns have seen better days, but if you look close enough you can see the pride that went into the important structures that defined the town over a hundred years ago. I also called upon memories of the small Texas town I grew up in and though it has been swallowed up by a much larger city the residents have held onto their heritage. The old downtown, complete with brick facades that proudly proclaim their age and original function, remains to this day. Storefronts from my youth once again sparkle with new purpose that calls to tourists and locals alike to come and sit a spell.
The stories I write are fiction — products of my imagination — but in every story there is a bit of truth, be it in the characters, the paths they take, or the places they inhabit. Somewhere I’ve met them all, traveled their same path or been to their hometown. Inspiration is everywhere I go, in everyone I meet and in my life as I’ve lived it.
Take a trip with me, if you will, to Butte Plains, Texas. I think you’ll like the town, and I know you’ll love the people who live there.

The Yankee Billionaire’s Bride by Roz Lee
Billionaire Brides Book 2
Visiting the tiny town of Butte Plains, Texas to help out a friend, born and bred Yankee Scott Ramsey has no intention of falling in love, but it isn’t long before the wide open plains, and especially the meadows — Roseanne Meadows — stake a claim on his heart. The Lone Star state seems welcoming enough, but after the owner of The Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast stole his heart, suddenly, for reasons he can’t understand, he’s relegated to carpetbagger status. What will it take to convince Roseanne his home is where his heart is?
Roseanne Meadows knew better than to fall in love with a Yankee carpetbagger, but it’s too late now. What’s done is done, and the sooner Scott Ramsey packs up his toys and goes home to his venomous family, the better. Faced with an unexpected life-altering situation, in true Texan style, the owner of The Yellow Rose B&B will do whatever it takes to survive, even if it means leaving the only place her heart has ever called home.

Thank you for sharing your story about how this story will unfold. I like when an author gives me a glimpse of something I haven’t tried before, like the B&B. I will have to look into them.
