A. Catherine Noon here, wishing you a Happy Valentine’s Day. My theme today is related to things we might do on Sundays, and I want to take a moment to thank you for being here. And that’s my subject for today – gratitude.
When we take a moment out of the hectic flow of the day and pause to count our blessings, it can remind us of all we do have. Author Sarah Ban Breathnach suggests we keep a gratitude journal and each evening, before we go to bed, we write down five things for which we are grateful. No matter how difficult our lives become, we can always find something to say thank you for, even if it’s just that the day is over.
I have found that the more I give thanks, the more I remember all the abundance in my life. My husband and I are saving for a house, and it takes so long to do that. It’s easy to get discouraged. But when I remember that I have a safe home, it’s warm even in the cold Chicago winter, and I like being up on the third floor because it’s got lots of natural light, it quiets down my disappointment that we still haven’t gotten to our goal yet. It also helps me to not become resigned to where we are, but to truly enjoy it and realize the gift that each day brings.
What about you, Dear Reader? For what are you grateful today?
