Moments after Marcie left for the Columbus hospital, search warrants were executed for the Willis home, and due to Marcie’s injuries, Cheryl was taken into custody. She was transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, or SEORJ, and her infant was handed over to a child service caseworker. According to Detective Pat Spearman, when he and other Investigators arrived at the Willis home, they easily located the cell phone Cheryl had said she misplaced, which she had cited as the reason she did not call 911.
According to 911 operators, they had received two calls about the Willis residence that day from neighbors. Twenty-nine-year-old Mary Stuart, told police she heard Cheryl yelling for her help, screaming, “She had a seizure. She had a seizure.”
