I’m rambling… Goal setting. What do you think? I used to love planning my reading time. Get home from work then put dinner on, sit down with a cabernet, cheese, and crackers, and Nora or Christine or Karen Marie…I would lose myself and (sometimes) burned dinner. I wanted to write those kinds of books–the burn dinner and brush it off sort of books. So I began the quest.
Today I’m supposed to send in my word count. Ugh! I’m failing miserably in a book challenge. My daily word count is not up to par. Well, it’s even worse than that…
But John Mellencamp is singing Your Life Is Now in my ears and changing my defeatist attitude. I’m ready for a little snark how about you? A Witch’s Curse is coming. I promise. Here’s an unedited excerpt. Don’tjudge me. LOL
A WITCH’S CURSE by Eliza March
Where do I start? I’m Delia and I manage Luna de la Mar, one of the world’s most exclusive Salon and Spa’s located in Boca. Not the other Boca. This town and its supernatural inhabitants are full of secrets, and I’m responsible for keeping them safe…the secrets that is. The inhabitants don’t need any help from me. I haven’t quite figured out what I am or what I’m capable of yet. So…think of me as “slightly undependable” in the save your ar$e category.
Carrie and Jen, my two best friends, are witches. Real witches. Discovering that (along with everything else) was a rock the world moment. Thank goodness my besties, the witch bitches, had my back through all of this, because, from time to time, things have gotten hairy, no pun intended, in the literal sense. Think full moon and shifters. Cats, wolves, bears… You name it, we got it.
Fate and some busy-body old, very old relatives, decided to match-make me to Poseidon’s son Aelric before I was born. He’s already had a long, quite full dating experience, and I’m—let’s just say I’m not catching up, but for a not so experienced nerd, I’m not doing so badly.
There’s Frankie, we-are-not-dating, my boss. But I did sleep with him…once…maybe twice before Ric, my on-again-off-again intended, became my arranged fiancé. Really not a hardship—not often a girl gets fixed up with a guy who looks like Thor and is the son of Poseidon, not to mention he’s heroic and kisses like nobodies business…
Long-story-short, I’m in the fight of my life because apparently there are opposing forces to the busybodies who want Ric and me together. Opposition includes half of his family and one of his ex-girlfriend’s. She’s a witch…no really, a Sea Witch, and his half-brother is a Gorgon. Need I say more? Okay here’s more… They are trying to kill me.
