This was celebrated in pre-Christian Ireland, the UK, and northern France at the end of the harvest on November 1st. It was believed that the dead could cross over during this time. Fires were lit and costumes were worn to ward off evil spirits.

7. The night before Halloween is called “Mischief Night” and “Goosey Night” mostly on the East Coast and the Midwest. It’s a popular night for pranks like toilet papering and egging houses.
