I hope so, for it if it isn’t I am way off base here! I’ve been an avid reader of fantasy, the mostly less scientific science fiction and anything with paranormal aspects for a very long time. Reincarnation, special powers, mythical and other-worldly creatures and some aspects of ancient spiritual beliefs and practices have fascinated me since I was in my teens. For a long time, I hesitated to try my had at writing anything in this vein. Now I’m not sure why except perhaps my favorite authors had set the bar so high I feared I could never come close. Finally a couple of characters just popped out of my warped writer’s brain and demanded I listen and tell their stories,
So today I want to talk about a couple of those books, You can find them at Changeling Press, on my page. Here is a link: https://www.changelingpress.com/catalog.php?upt=book&ufilter=search&keywords=Deirdre+O%27Dare
Right now thee are three titles there I consider part of my “Thin Green Line” series. That phrase refers to the U.S. Border Patrol who is tasked with guarding our borders and keeping out those who cannot legally enter, especially those with dangerous or criminal intent. Most of the officers wear green uniforms of military style and considering the long and rugged miles they must patrol, they are indeed stretched thin. I sympathize with them and honor them as I do all the law enforcement and first responder folks and those in the military who stand between us and so many terrible hazards and fates and help when bad things do happen.
The tales that came to me took the idea one step farther because I visualized in the not-too-distant future that this guarding might include keeping real other world and out space type aliens at bay or catching those that slipped through. This would require agents and officers who had some unusual skills themselves. From this theme, several stories were born.
I’ll discuss them not in the order they were written and published but in semi-chronological order. That means Jumping Jack Flash comes first since it is a kind of prequel to the rest. But enough for this first post–details and covers and more to come soon!
Before I send this one off to cyberspace though, I must mention a giveaway! Yes, I will give a lucky commenter their choice of a paperback copy that contains previously issued versions of some of the tales or the three stories in e-book form, winner’s choice of format. I will also warn that they are all gay or m/m romances and fairly hot! Don’t go away, I’ll be right back!
