Sometimes a guy needs a woman to defend him. Arista isn’t just any woman, she’s His Defender.
His Defender is my new release and my Staying At Home Party Prize.
Grant Winston is having a bad night. His new girlfriend is trying to draw him to the dark side, a woman of the night gives him a nasty bite and a sword wielding beauty in a Goth outfit claims she’s his defender.
Arista has her orders and an uncooperative human will not dissuade her from her sacred duty. Naive as he is handsome, Grant is in big trouble. He has something an old and powerful demon wants and he doesn’t understand Arista is all that stands between him and hell.
Arista directed him to a bench in the center of the utilitarian room. “Take off your jacket and shirt.”
He removed his jacket and slipped off his shirt, revealing a fine physique. Arista had spent the last three years living and working with some of the most fit males in the universe, but seeing Grant’s sleek, muscular form triggered a hot glow deep inside her. Not the reaction a defender should have for her assigned ward.
Her job was to protect him from Magan and keep him out of the demon’s greedy hands, but looking at a half-naked Grant, Arista envied the time her enemy had enjoyed with this Earthman. Demons definitely had more fun.
Arista turned on the tap and removed the tiny sword from her belt. The sword extended to its full length. The blade was straight and honed to an edge so sharp it would split a hair and had the ability to generate high-intensity light pulses.
Grant gasped. “What are you doing?”
She plunged the tip of the blade beneath the water and tiny sparkles of light danced along the blade. “I’m going to clean your wound, not cut off your head.”
Arista grasped his chin and tilted his head back and to one side. “Grab the edge of the bench and don’t move.”
He gripped the bench. “Why?”
“This is going to hurt.”
