Well friends, this is the last day for the 2019 Spookapalooza Party. It is also my last post. I hope you enjoyed reading about my book. Thank you and good night.
Judge Joseph Poston then read the verdict at 3:37 p.m., finding Dale Johnston guilty of two counts of aggravated murder.
It was said that Dale displayed no visible emotion as the verdict was read. Cheers resounded through the outer halls of the courthouse as soon as the decision became evident.
Most of the spectators were seen dispersing immediately after the verdict reading. One woman described the waiting reporters and photographers pacing the hallway like “hyenas stalking a hot meal.”
Judge Michael Corrigan informed Johnston that before a sentence would be imposed, the Defendant would be able to present evidence at the hearing on mitigating circumstances to be held at a later date. That hearing would determine whether Johnston would be given the death penalty or life without the possibility of parole.
The Shultz family was seen leaving the courtroom in tears, with Sheila Shultz commenting, “Justice has been done.” When asked if the verdict had eased the loss of her son, she said, “Not yet, but maybe eventually.”
