Isn’t this just the best time of year? I totally love fall and of course Halloween or Samhain, which is my preferred version of the autumn celebration. Here in New Mexico we also commemorate El Dia de los Muertos which is a day set aside to honor our dear departed and ancestors. This transition time, when in some places winter is already blowing a frosty breath on the north winds and scattered a dusting of white on the landscape is usually mild and a slow slid from not-quite-summer to winter here in the high desert that I call home.
Anyway the nights are getting chilly which makes it a wonderful time to curl up in a favorite chair near a arm fire or at least a heater with a hot cup of your favorite drink at hand and a good book, either the old fashioned kind or on your reader! I’m sure the enthusiastic authors here for this special TRS event will present lots of good choices for you to select from. Some may be spooky or even horrifyng, some just paranormal, a bit mysterious or simply other worldly.
Anyway, pull up a chair and get comfy for several fun filled days and nights! It’s a delight to be here and I hope some of you will comment to say hi and even a few new friends will give me a chance to get to know you! To me that is the very best benefit of being a writer is to meet readers and learn about them!
Here is a photo or two of how fall looks in some parts of my world. I’m an avid amateur photographer and fall leaves make such a great subject! The first is the main park of my little town and the second is in Wolf Creek Pass in southern Colorado. We do too have seasons in the high desert!
