Experiment by B.J. McCall Excerpt 1
Winter storms continue to bring snow to the higher elevations. Experiment brings a whole new meaning to snow camping.

Physical interaction with an alien wasn’t on Alinta’s scientific experiment list of thing-to-do-while visiting the planet known as RND82, but one look at Sam Grayson in a pair of silk thermals is all it takes to reprioritize her time out of the space lab.
B.J. McCall’s EXPERIMENT gave me a real chuckle once I realized that humans are the aliens in this story. It’s very interesting viewing an ‘alien encounter’ from the non-human’s point of view. Alinta seems to come from a very serious planet and obviously takes her studies to heart but her encounter with Sam gives her an incentive to enjoy life as well.

EXCERPT 1
Alien encounter authorized.
Alinta Jikat stored the precious vials of ice crystals she’d collected. Although the scope of her experiment was limited to the fragile crystals, any interaction with the humanoid life forms on the water planet, RND82, was viewed as an opportunity for an explorer to collect data.
“Weapons?”
None detected.
“Alien’s position?”
Downloading.
The minute computer wired into Alinta’s brain absorbed the data and plotted a course for her to follow. Alinta scanned the terrain, her visor’s sensors searching for the alien’s heat register.
The sensor alerted her to two energy sources, one identified as fire and the other as a male alien. Moving through a stand of trees, Alinta spotted the alien’s primitive shelter.
Peaceful encounters with aliens were encouraged, and one explorer had reported a physical interaction with a female. The details of the encounter had fascinated Alinta. The pursuit of physical and mental perfection had driven her people to forego the unpredictable results of random propagation and unsystematic physical mating. Data collection provided valuable information for future explorers.
When the alien left his shelter, Alinta removed her visor. Although she’d studied the inhabitants of RND82, seeing one up close was beyond thrilling. While the alien’s temp suit appeared inadequate, the dimensions of his body were well defined and his appearance pleasing, an excellent example of his species. Eager for what might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, Alinta started up her comp’s translator and initiated her pleasure network.
