End of Summer?
For many, I think summer’s end is a bit sad. I know my grandmother always said so for she missed her children going off to school and later when they were away in college and then getting on with their lives. Then the more carefree and pleasant times to be outside a lot, free on vacations and such is gone for another year. However, as a desert rat and resident of the arid southwest, I welcome it and consider fall my favorite season as I have for a long time! Even as a kid. True, it was back to school but since I was living on a ranch and had even more chores in the summer, it was a kind of vacation too!
Here the signs of the season change are not blatant and obvious. There will not be a hint of frost in the air for many weeks yet and very few leaves have even begun to turn. So, we old timers see the more subtle signs and recognize them. The daylight hours are getting shorter, of course, and the increased moisture from the Monsoon Season or summer rainy time leaves and we go back to the ultra-dry –say 10% humidity or even less! The sky gets more blue and there is a bit more energy around us. So, in short, I’m ready! I also hope allergy season will soon wane and I won’t have the sniffles and irritated eyes nearly as much.
But anyway, we are all ready to party and celebrate–or mourn, as the case might be. I send deep sympathy and prayers to any here who have just suffered through the two horrible storms or are dealing with forest and wildland fires near their homes. You all have every bit of healing and supporting energies I can send your way. Maybe a few quiet minutes to read a feel good story or two will help.
In the TRS Paranormal Party which just ended, I hinted at some exciting news from Deirdre O’Dare and JMS Books, one of my publishers. JMS has agreed to bring out a number of my older gay romances which have been off the market since Amber Quill closed and even before that probably forgotten on a back shelf since they were old news, dating back five or even more years. The neat part is for a time they are going to be released under the Kindle Unlimited program at Amazon and only available there–for free to read and economical to buy and keep! The first two are out as of today and two more will be coming soon. Then further groups will follow through the fall and winter.
See my next post for titles, some covers and blurbs on the first group! Meanwhile Happy Autumn.
