Well friends, its late here, so this is my last post for the evening. I will return tomorrow for more postings of my detective/crime novel, Murder Most Foul. I hope you are enjoying our annual St. Patricks Day party at TRS. Thank you and goodnight.
On the third day of the trial, Caroline paused at a near marketplace for French cuisine. With the cabin supplying a full kitchen, she hoped to surprise Harmon with a home- cooked meal. But, while shopping, she grew uneasy. The simple purchase stop turned into a nightmare.
“Excuse me, aren’t you dating that Federal Agent?” a customer asked.
Hesitating, she reluctantly answered, “Yes, I am.”
“Why is your boyfriend tryin’ to get that baby rapist set free? We all know Vernon did it,” another customer said.
“The trial isn’t over. Vernon James hasn’t been found guilty of anything yet,” Caroline replied defensively.
“Well, I heard the step-father confessed to a cell mate that he killed the kids inside his trailer, then masturbated on their dead bodies,” the cashier replied.
“A cell mate? If you’re referring to Kevin Delmar, he’s a known criminal and liar,” Caroline said. “Mr. James hasn’t confessed to anything, and he hasn’t been convicted of anything.”
“Well, he will be. He’s a murderer,” an expectant mother said.
Leaving before she said something regretful, Caroline gathered the groceries and threw twenty dollars at the cashier. She made a beeline for the exit, away from the mob of angry women, only to face another kind of danger.
