Kaye Spencer here with my first post for The Romance Studio’s Holiday Party. I’ll begin with a bit about me.
I’m a native Coloradoan from Fort Morgan, but I’ve lived in Springfield, Colorado for 29 years. Springfield is a small rural town located in the heart of the infamous Dust Bowl area of the 1930s. I’ve always been drawn to cowboys and the Old West, but I write in all genres and time periods when the story idea strikes me. Reading Louis L’Amour’s westerns, listening to Marty Robbins’ gunfighter ballads, watching the classic television westerns, and growing up on a cattle ranch all inspired my love of the American Old West—truths and myths alike. I retired from a career in education, which allows me the time to write full-time and as well as spend time with my six grandchildren.
Another tidbit about me is I’ve collected hand-me-down family recipes. I am fortunate to be the recipient of several old family recipes and recipe books. One of my older recipe books belonged to my Aunt Irene (b. 1926) from her high school Home Economics class.
I’ve been adding family recipes to my website and also to a Board on my Pinterest account. In 2019, I will add one or two recipes per month. I’ve kept the original wording and measurements from the recipes. In 2019, I’ll also add recipes applicable to the time period of my stories.
I don’t send a newsletter, so it would be a nice Christmas surprise to have new followers on my 1) Amazon Author page for notification of my new releases, 2) my BookBub page (to receive my occasional book recommendations), 3) my WordPress Blog (I post roughly once a week), and 4) my Twitter account (I Tweet history trivia).
Thanks so much!
Until next time,
Writing through history one romance upon a time
