He’s only back for a visit…
Sadie Brandt loves Halloween almost as much as she adores Beau’s Folly, the tiny Kansas town her family has called home for three generations. Almost as much as she secretly adored Tripp Wallace, her older brother’s best friend. When Tripp suddenly shows up just in time for the annual fall festival, long-buried hopes arise to haunt Sadie. When he finally seems to notice she’s all grown up, Sadie isn’t sure if the brief fling he offers is a trick or treat.
…but can he let go—again—of the small town girl he never forgot?
Tripp Wallace has spent the last few years traveling around the world as a digital nomad, managing his tech support business from exotic locations such as Bali and Budapest. Six months of uncharacteristic discontent finally drives him home for a long-overdue visit. Two weeks should be plenty of time to catch up with family and friends as he decides where he’s headed for his next adventure. Any longer than that, and the small town claustrophobia that chased him away in the first place will drown him. Except everything about podunk Bo Fo is different. Better. Warmer. Sweeter. Especially Sadie Brandt, whose blue eyes, red hair, and freckles still beg to be teased.
When Tripp realizes he only has one chance to convince Sadie how he feels, he vows to convince her any which way he can.
EXCERPT
Justine rushed up the steps of the school, flinging her arms around Sadie and distracting her from more confusing thoughts. “Congratulations!” Justine whirled her around. “Did you hear the news?”
“No. What news?” Sadie straightened the corset of her costume, unable to help admiring the way the purple bustier enhanced her modest cleavage. Plump mounds swelled above the tight-fitting taffeta.
She hoped Tripp appreciated the provocative look created by the burlesque-inspired costume. She’d found something similar on Etsy and then used the concept to design her own version. Below the corset, varying lengths of tulle skirting in black and purple rode her hips, emphasizing the hourglass shape created by the garment. A witch’s hat with a matching tulle veil and black feather trim along the brim topped off the costume while black lace-up stiletto ankle boots lent a sexy swagger to her stride.
She pulled her thoughts away from Tripp and focused on what Justine was saying.
“Kimberly did a quick tally of the numbers, and we’ve already brought in more money than the total profit from last year’s festival.”
Kimberly Weston was the town’s financial director. She oversaw the festival budget and approved all expenditures in addition to her other duties.
Sadie squealed. “That’s the best news I’ve had all day!”
Her love life might be headed off the rails but at least Hay Days was a success.
