This will be my last post of the party until I pick the winner of my contest tomorrow. Be sure to enter!
The contest here is for one Kindle copy of The Vampire with a Blanket of Stars. All you have to do is tell me why you want it in the comment box. The contest is for the USA only and ends when The Romance Studio’s party ends. The winner will be listed here the day after the party ends! Here is an unusual excerpt.
As soon as Răzvan closed his eyes, he entered the dream where Saraina was in his arms. She sighed and nibbled on his jaw. My Răzvan, she murmured. He loved it when she did that. He couldn’t get enough of caressing her beautiful hair like midnight. Her eyes both enchanted and entranced him.
Kiss me, Saraina.
She always kissed so tenderly. Her shyness and innocence swept his heart. When he pulled her body closer against his wearing only the thinnest of garments, she melted against him. She trembled like an aftershock of something unpleasant.
What has happened, Dragă mea?
We have moved the camp again. There was a town nearby, and soldiers came and set it on fire. It was awful. The screams. The gunfire. We traveled for hours, until we finally heard nothing at all, going deeper and deeper into the forest.
He caressed her back. I think we should get up and dress. You need to see something.
Though regretting watching her dress without the option to immediately undress, he put on clothes. Minutes later he led her downstairs into the kitchen. People were busily cooking. Saraina paused to breathe in the steam from cook pots and bread just out of the oven. A man opened a door to reveal a room of ice. Amongst the hanging meats were rows and rows of bottles with a red liquid.
“A few are, but it is mostly blood. Vampires have to eat too.”
She smiled as she walked among the people in the dining room. They smiled and laughed and talked about their lives. “They do not see us?”
“No. We are dream traveling.”
“You know I was laying in the bed upstairs waiting for you to come home. Praying that nothing would happen to you.”
He pulled her to him in a kiss. After the kiss, she laughed and gently pushed him away. “Not in front of others.”
“They cannot see us. Remember?”
He took her hand and together they wandered through the castle. “So many people.” They passed a Roma family just sitting at a table sharing food. “You rescue the Roma too?”
“Anyone who has been captured by the army and the Germans. Sadly we cannot rescue enough. More and more every day are taken to their deaths, and we are not enough and not everywhere.”
Răzvan explained, “It is difficult to fight a war and be in love at the same time. You live in a moment of ecstasy, and then, in the heat of the battle you remember what you are fighting for.”
