Happy Valentine’s day! I finally got in the mood, after a fun date night last Saturday. I’ve got a great guy who sometimes drives me crazy, but mostly makes me happy. Even if you don’t have a significant other in your life, celebrate this day of love with yummy chocolate, a hot bath, a good romance book, a happily-ever-after movie, or whatever makes you feel special. Thanks for reading!
The light in her eyes, an expression of wonder and joy, set his pulse racing. She looked so incredibly fine, so strong and fierce. Like she was ready to tackle anything.
Had to have her. Now.
“Let’s take this inside. In front of the fireplace.”
“Sounds perfect, since I went through all that work to build a fire.” She grinned, and climbed out of the tub, shyness forgotten.
Or not. Snatching her towel off the hook, she wrapped it tight. Damn. He wanted to watch her naked body move.
Stepping out after her and grabbing his own towel, he gave a thankful prayer for the cover of darkness to hide his erection. Not like he wasn’t proud of the thing, but Danika needed to be handled gently. To start, anyway.
Inside, she strolled to the fireplace and turned, facing away.
“Would you get a glass of wine? Use real glass, not a plastic one.”
Hoping to hell she’d stay put, and this wasn’t her way of running him off, he hurried to the kitchen. When he returned, she’d spread a blanket on the floor and sat cross-legged on top, gloriously naked. Two pillows lay nearby.
“I don’t want to get rug burns.” Dipping her head, she looked up at him from under long, wet lashes.
Definitely needed to start gentle. Thankful the trip to the kitchen had calmed his eager cock, he set her glass down on the stone floor in front of the fireplace, put his glass containing a shot of bourbon next to it, then joined her on the blanket. Energy danced off her, but not like he’d enjoyed in the hot tub. More like nervous energy. She wrapped her arms around her legs and hugged them to her chest.
“Maybe we should…”
“No. Take a drink of wine. Another. I’m going to touch you for a few minutes, okay? Lay there, don’t move. Relax.”
She complied and stretched out. She needed to calm, to let her body take over and mind shut off.
Running slow hands along her skin, he forced his own mind to still. To only think about Danika, and how much he wanted her. How good her skin felt, all warm and soft. Up over one breast, pausing to squeeze, and rub a thumb over her nipple, already hardened. She shivered, and looking into her eyes, pleasure and need shone.
“Tell me what you like. Let me make you feel good. We start there and go back to what we fired up outside.”
While he talked he continued to explore her body, moving his hand between her legs, gently parting them. Dipping a finger inside her, his cock throbbed painfully, as she moaned and lifted her hips.
“More.” A whisper, then louder. “More.”
With the aid of an inexplicable but opportune super-power, he’s determined to conquer any hurdles to gain back his freedom. Except one hot mess of an obstacle he can’t get around.
A terrorist attack poisons the water and leaves hundreds of thousands of Americans dead. Countless more are left with diminished brain function. As the government seizes control, order is restored in the country but freedom is taken away. A nation is quarantined, all citizens regulated to stay within the borders.
For Riley, a genius hacker, that lack of freedom, particularly travel restriction, is not acceptable. When he suddenly develops a bad-ass power and learns he can manipulate electricity, he sets out to use that power to gain back control. The discovery of a murder forces Riley to team up with Danika, an enigmatic woman with her own freaky power and scary secrets. When they find that the dead scientist was working on a machine to uncover more people with superpowers, the adventure begins as they attempt to track the device.
Death and danger shadow the pair as they travel to the waterways of Florida, the mountains of Colorado and places in between. With each of them following their own agenda but compelled to work together, they search for answers in a world shaped by devastation, and discover buried pieces of themselves along the way.
