It’s a Hot Scots Christmas!

Sometimes the best Christmas presents are the ones you never expected. When I started writing a contemporary erotic romance featuring a Scottish hero, I couldn’t have imagined what would happen. I love spending Christmas with family, but my big surprise came in the form of Dangerous in a Kilt.

The book was released on December 16, 2016 — right in the midst of the holiday season and primetime for the publishing industry. Before this book, I’d written mainly paranormal romance, with the exception of one short story (Tempted by a Kiss) that became my first erotic romance. Dangerous in a Kilt was my first-ever full-length erotic romance, and it felt like a huge risk at the time to dive headlong into a new and very different subgenre.

The risk paid off, more than I could’ve ever dreamed. Dangerous would go on to become a bestseller, soaring into the top 100 of Amazon, the top 5 among all romances on iBooks, and the #2 romance on Barnes & Noble. To top it off, the book won a National Readers’ Choice Award. Best of all, though, I garnered new fans and reconnected with old ones, receiving emails from people I’d never known followed my writing. Folks who subscribed to my newsletter got in touch to tell me how much they loved the book and would love to see more of the series.

I’d planned for Dangerous to be the first book in a series, but I’d originally thought it was a trilogy. I left the door open, though, by calling it the Hot Scots series — not the Hot Scots trilogy. The response I got from fans old and new spurred me to expand the Hot Scots universe. Lachlan MacTaggart, the hero of the first book, has two brothers and three sisters. Aidan MacTaggart got his own story in Wicked in a Kilt, and Rory gets his turn in Scandalous in a Kilt (my current work-in-progress). I’m even planning a special holiday story for next year, A Hot Scots Christmas, which features sister Jamie and the American guy she met in Wicked.

As for the future beyond that…Oh, don’t worry. I’ve got plans! You’ll have to wait for Scandalous to find out exactly what those plans might be. Okay, I’ll give you a hint. 🙂 The greater MacTaggart clan has other, equally scorching men in its ranks.
