With Halloween upon us, it’s time to think about the holiday season. What do you want for Christmas? How about a hot Scot? Every woman needs one of those! This holiday season, I’m thrilled to present my very first Christmas-themed novel, Gift-Wrapped in a Kilt. The book marks the fourth installment in my bestselling, award-winning Hot Scots series. The story takes us from Halloween through Thanksgiving and finally Christmas — with a New Year’s surprise at the end.
Thanksgiving in Scotland? Do they have that? Well, no, it’s not a holiday there. But the Hot Scots series centers on Americans who fall for Scots, so it seemed only natural those Americans would bring with them one of the biggest traditions in the United States. That would, of course, be eating lots of turkey and stuffing.
In the first three books, those Americans were women. In book four, I shake things up a bit with a Scottish lass, Jamie MacTaggart, and the American man she loves. Gavin Douglas first appeared in book two as the older brother of the heroine, Calli. Jamie was mentioned in book one, but we didn’t really meet her until book two. She and Gavin found an instant attraction, but eighteen months later their relationship has hit a few snags.
I loved writing the first three books, but with the fourth installment I wanted to try something different. Books one through three were written in the first person exclusively from the viewpoint of the heroine. In book four, I throw that convention oot the windae! (Read book one and you’ll get that little joke.) My fans have told me how much they loved Emery and Rory from Scandalous in a Kilt (book three), and like them I found I couldn’t quite let go of those two yet. They found their happily ever after, but they’ve got one more chapter to their story that forms the backbone of book four.
What makes this book different from the first three? It’s composed mostly in the third person with the viewpoints of Gavin and Jamie, but that’s not all. I also included first-person chapters that allow Emery to become the narrator of Jamie and Gavin’s love story. Her relationship with Rory has an unexpected effect on the current couple’s issues. I won’t spoil the surprise by telling you how. And yes, as one fan pointed out to me, I’m so mean that way!
Gift-Wrapped also has two surprise chapters, also first person but from the viewpoints of two other characters. All I can tell you is two Scotsmen will have their say. In book four, we also meet the man who will become the hero of book five, Notorious in a Kilt. Yep, he’s another MacTaggart.
If you love audiobooks, rest assured the entire Hot Scots will be coming to audio soon. You can start with Dangerous in a Kilt, available now, and subscribe to my newsletter to find out when the others are released. The audiobook of The MacTaggart Brothers Trilogy (Books 1-3) will include three bonus chapters read by a genuine Scotsman. What more could you want for Christmas?

About Gift-Wrapped in a Kilt
Cold days. Steamy nights. It must be the holidays in the Highlands.
American Gavin Douglas lusted for Jamie MacTaggart from the minute he met the sweet Scot eighteen months ago and fell in love in the next minute. When he tries to propose… Well, everything goes wrong, and before he can make it right, she dumps him. But he hasn’t traveled halfway around the world to give up without a fight.
Jamie MacTaggart has had enough. After more than a year of flying back and forth between Scotland and America, she needs a commitment — to one continent, at the least. Instead, Gavin gives her a credit card. Heartbroken, Jamie seeks advice from her American sister-in-law, Emery, and together they concoct a plan. Jamie will make Gavin rue the day he hurt her by making him want her so badly he can’t see straight.
Gavin can’t resist Jamie’s seduction, but hot sex won’t earn back her trust. Spurred by advice from an unexpected source, he’ll battle Jamie’s obnoxious ex-fiancé and his own inner demons. He’ll even make peace with Jamie’s heroes, her three overprotective brothers — if the intimidating Rory will cooperate. As the two men engage in a battle of wills and muscles, Gavin vows to do whatever it takes to win back everything he wants by Christmas.
