A Contest and Interview with Vampire Prince Răzvan of Romania, Part 5
I’m interviewing Prince Răzvan about the holidays.
Răzvan: (smiles) I love talking about this. I am Romanian Orthodox Christian and love Christmas. It is very special in Romania.
December 6th is St. Nicholas’s Day. Children clean their shoes or boots and leave them by the door to receive small presents. In Romania, this is a separate person from Santa Claus.
December 20th is St. Ignatius’s Day, and families make a wonderful pork dinner.
Celebrating really begins on Christmas Eve with decorating the tree, caroling, and a band of mostly drummers. Santa Claus is called Old Man Christmas. He delivers gifts on Christmas Eve. But the Christmas celebration doesn’t end there.
My absolute favorite part of the holidays is celebrated between Christmas and New Year’s. In Moldavia they have the Dancing Bears. Men and women dress as bears and dance to the music of pan flutes and drums. Some dress as the bear tamers. In bigger towns and cities, it is a parade.
Their purpose is to chase away the evil spirits. A very long time ago when I was human, I was a prince of Dacia which became the present day Romania. The bear was considered a sacred animal that can heal. The dance of the bears is really an ancient ceremony of healing and rejuvenation for the New Year.
Susan: The whole celebration takes how long? I imagine the different holiday foods must be amazing.
Răzvan: It starts on December 20th and ends on January 7th. You might want to consider coming to Romania for the holidays. I love to eat too.
Susan: You eat human food?
Răzvan: Any vampire over 100 years is capable of eating human food. I go to church services regularly too. I am deeply religious.
Susan: I didn’t know that. You’re not what people would expect for a vampire.
Răzvan: You know, King Max always says that when you wake as a vampire you become what you are inside. He gave me a second chance at a life, and it was up to me to do my heart’s desire. Being a vampire might be hard, but honestly, isn’t everyone’s life hard.
I wish you all joy and a peaceful heart. Merry Christmas! Enjoy your blessings.
Susan: Thank you, Prince Răzvan. For our readers at this party, this is the last chance to enter our contest. I will be giving away a signed copy of The Vampire with a Blanket of Stars to one lucky commenter. Tell me why you need Prince Răzvan in your life.
Be sure to comment on every post of mine you visit. Five visits is like five times your name will go in the hat. The contest ends when The Romance Studio’s party ends. I will post the winner tomorrow.
If you can’t wait. The Vampire with a Blanket of Stars, Arnhem Knights of New York, Book 3 is available in Amazon Print and Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Apple, Walmart ebooks and Smashwords. There is so much more to learn about this unique vampire prince.
