#2 Post from “Mail Order Murder”
Excerpt:
Anna wrote her parents of Lionel’s increasing jealousy and domination over her, and his resentment of her Russian friends. According to Mrs. Tonkov, she and her husband informed Anna she could return to their home, but said Anna insisted on remaining in America, where she was preparing for college.
After Ann’s affair in Las Vegas, recalled Mr. King, she came up with an agreement that we would spend fifteen minutes a day with one another. During that time, we could do anything-talk or have sex. It was her idea, he said, because she did want the marriage to work, saying, “We were happy.”
The idea of spending fifteen-minutes a day with each other, was not Anna’s idea said Vida. According to her, Anna said it was Lionel’s idea, with Vida telling Anna she was crazy to agree with such a ludicrous agreement, because all Lionel wanted was sex.
“He never wanted just conversation,” said Vida. “Anna was his possession. His prize.”
